12 Tips for starting a Senegence Business during COVID-19!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are now a business owner!! I am so excited for you and your new journey. You are going to LOVE it! I'm sure you are ready to jump right in so let me give you a few tips to get going on the right foot during these hard times!
1. Explore the Back Office – Learn about the Jump Start and Fast Start program, take the DOTS training, set up your SeneSite, look through marketing materials, and so much more! Click on every tab and soak in all the information you can! It’s all there for you to help you make the most of this opportunity.
2. Decide how you want to run you business –
Now this is a big one, with the spread of COVID-19 you have a few options on how to run your business right now!
*Option 1- Order stock and ship from home.
This is the option I use and here is why. First, you get the most profit. When you bulk order and have products at home you can earn the biggest discount (50%) quicker. (The larger the order, the larger the discount) This means in return you earn the most money! (50% profit!) Second, having stock at home ready to go means customers don’t have to wait! Shipping can take 3-7 days from the company. Having items at home means customers don’t have to wait as long to receive items (especially if you have to ship to other states once you receive the items). Third, it allows you to make your brand personal and build a solid customers base. When you are delivering or shipping products to your customers you can personalize them with your brands design, candy, samples, business cards, fliers, etc. I also like to include a beauty book and welcome/thank you card to my customers when they place their first order. This helps to build a relationship and ensure that they will return to you.
*Option 2- Order products as customers pay and ship from home.
With this option you are only placing an order after customer pay and getting it shipped to your house so that you can package it up and send it out to your customers. This is a way to ensure you are using the money you make to place orders instead of your own money! This can be beneficial when you are placing one BIG order with different customers. For example, if you hosted an online party and 4 people placed an order with you. If you order all of your customers items at once, you will only pay shipping and processing once and receive everyone’s order in one big package! However, if you are frequently placing small orders for just one customer at a time the shipping and processing fees can quickly add up!
Positives- you can get items shipped to your house and personalize the packages, you don’t have to pay up front for items.
Negatives- customers will have to wait longer to receive items (5-10 days). Shipping and processing fees can add up if you make a lot of small orders.
*Option 3- Demo Drop Ship
You can place an order for a customer and get it shipped right to them!!! This is great right now because of the crisis the world is in but again not the best for the long run because you will not make as much money. The discount is based on your current discount rate or PV level. So if you currently have 20% off that will be your profit margin for that customers order. You will also have to pay shipping and processing for that customers order. And because you are doing one customer at a time orders, it will take longer to reach the 50% off margin. So again, this is great right now because of the virus but once life is back to normal, I would not recommend this as the best option!
3. How will you take payment? – There are multiple ways! Paypal, Venmo, and my favorite – SQUARE. If you don’t currently have square it’s great because you can accept cash or card and set up your business profile, track sells, and list items! 4. Create a Brand Name-
Think of a brand name that reflects you and tells your story! Google may be able to help you with this one! Check to make sure that the name is not being used by anyone else and that it does NOT include the Senegence name or product names. For example, you don’t want to make your name “LipSense with Liz” a better name may be “Lips with Liz”. Once you
5. Write down or record your WHY-
Knowing your WHY is essential – it will keep you motivated when nothing else will. Why did you say YES? What are you hoping to gain from starting this business? What is your goal? Who are you doing it for? What is making you excited right now?
6. Connect on Social Media-
Decide which social media platform you would like to share your content on. I suggest starting with just one platform and picking the one you are most comfortable with! Whether you choose to create a Facebook group, Facebook page, Instagram page, or twitter page it is all up to you. Take the time to learn your platform and how it can be used to build a brand. Once you are comfortable and set up with your brand page, make your first post about your WHY! Invite your close friend and family and go LIVE to share why you started this business and why it is important to you!
7. Make an Announcement –
Share on whatever social media platform(s) you use that you have started a new fun business and would love their support as you get started! Explain that you are now a SeneGence/LipSense distributor and share your business pages. If you aren’t into social media – send an email or a text and show YOUR excitement in it.
8. Host an ONLINE (Social Distance) Launch Party!!
The sooner the better! This will help you start your business off strong!

9. Make a list of 10 friends/family that you know who LOVE makeup –
Who on that list would enjoy making a little extra $, or just LOVES makeup and wants it all – call them right now and ask them to do this with you! It is ALWAYS more fun with someone you love and its WAY more fun to learn together.
10. Place an Order (If you picked Option 1)
If you choose to run your business from home and build a personal brand then you need to get that order in! The sooner you have product in your hands – the sooner you can make $!! Invest in yourself and in your business. Shipping is FREE for the month of April so this is the perfect time to take advantage and build your stock!
